Define trauma.png

How I define trauma doesn't really matter, what matters is how an experience feels or felt to you. We all have different perceptions of similar situations.

For the purposes of healing, it can be best to think about how you'd like your life to be different in the present. Perhaps you're thinking 'I don't know what I'd like my life to be but I know it's not this!' In that case we can begin by working out where you'd like to get to before helping you get there.

do I have to.png

You don't ever have to heal your trauma if you don't want to. Plenty of people don't. Some may find coping straegies that allow them to ignore it, for others it continues to have an impact until they address it. Often people continue to live in pain because they are afraid of the healing process itself. While the process can be intense it is incredibly rewarding, leading to a life of freedom and growth that's difficult to even imagine before you experience it.

Some of us have conscious memories of our traumas and others block them out so understanding our own unresolved trauma is not always as obvious as you might think.

On top of this the effects of trauma are quite diverse and far reaching, from flashbacks and nightmares to physical ailments of all kinds, to that deep sense of unworthiness or a feeling that things are not quite right.

All you can do is trust your intuition. Do you feel that your difficulties could be caused by past trauma? It can be really helpful to explore this in your consultation or your sessions.

what to expect.png

The trauma recovery programme is made up of six, one hour long, one to one sessions delivered online via zoom. Sessions are delievered weekly, with a 'no stone unturned' approach in which there's nothing we can't work on. They are also led by you and if there's anything you're not ready to look at, you can decide not to go there. Compassion for yourself is as important as the courage to dive deep. The programme can be as gentle or as challenging as you need it to be.

PTSD diagnosis.png

Absolutely not! Trauma which would not meet the criteria for a PTSD diagnosis is just as valid and just as worthy of healing, besides which, getting a diagnosis can be difficult, expensive and traumatic in itself.

The vast majority of us are living our lives carrying old traumas with us, be they big or small. Whatever the nature of our trauma, putting our time and energy into healing will always improve our lives and the world.

change the past.png

The things that you've gone through will always be a part of you and that can be really difficult to accept. Finding that acceptance is part of healing.

The point of doing this work is to move from living in a past filled with fear to living in a new present filled with joy, strength and wholeness.

Rather than being something that, makes things difficult for you and limits your options, your experience becomes something that fuels your compassion and self knowledge
